The GTM Motion That's Working in 2026
The old playbook is broken. Here's what the best B2B teams are doing differently.

The GTM playbook that worked in 2020 — large SDR teams blasting high-volume outbound, content driving inbound, AEs closing — has been under stress for years. In 2026, the teams pulling ahead have adapted to a fundamentally different motion.
What Changed
Buyer behavior shifted: Decision-makers now do most of their research before talking to vendors. By the time they engage with a rep, they've already formed strong opinions. The implication: you need to influence the research phase, not just the closing phase.
The cost of outbound rose: Response rates on high-volume outbound have fallen so far that the math no longer works for many companies. You need a much higher conversion rate from the conversations you do have, which means much better targeting and timing.
AI changed the cost curve: Certain tasks that required large teams — research, enrichment, personalization at scale — can now be done by agents. Teams that have adapted to this can run leaner and more effectively.
The Motion That's Working
The best teams are running a signal-led, human-closed motion:
Signals in: Continuously monitor for intent signals across your ICP. Funding, hiring, tech changes, content consumption, competitor activity.
Agent-assisted prioritization: Use agents to surface the top accounts showing the strongest signals. Not a static list — a live, continuously updated priority queue.
Tight targeting: Reps work a narrow list of highly qualified, high-signal accounts. Quality over volume at every step.
Multi-channel, context-aware outreach: When you reach out, it's because something happened. The outreach references that something. Email, LinkedIn, and phone all aligned to the same account at the same time, not spray and pray across all channels.
Content that helps, not sells: Thought leadership that addresses the problems your ICP is trying to solve. The goal is to be present and helpful during the research phase, so that when they're ready to evaluate, you're already in the consideration set.
Speed to conversation: When a signal fires, move fast. The half-life of a buying signal is short. Teams that respond within hours outperform teams that respond within days.
This motion is more demanding than high-volume spray and pray. But the pipeline quality is dramatically better — and so is the rep experience.
